Hello Everybody:
Welcome to my world…..I see things very differently than you do. As you spend more time learning about high-level negotiations, you too will see the world differently….and life will become easier.
I am going to do my best to update this blog on a regular basis, but as I am not hiring anyone to write these on my behalf, I have only limited time to do so. Subscribe to it so when I have something that may help you, it will be in your mailbox.
Let’s start at the basics…the difference between negotiations and high-level negotiations. Negotiations or standard negotiations are where there are two or more people/parties/entities who usually seek something different from what the other party is seeking. For example, you want to purchase a house for $850 but the seller wants $1 million. You negotiate. The parties go back and forth until one party is willing to surrender some space/money/etc. and the other gains less than he or she/they wanted to. In my opinion, regular negotiations are very ‘surfacy’ (you will understand why I state this in a moment), and in most cases a lose/lose proposition.
High-level negotiations are a whole different world within a world. In high-level negotiations, it is very possible to have both parties win (in my experience both parties win at least 50% of the time). However, high-level negotiations take into account a number of psychological and experiential factors and take into account a number of factors that operate simultaneously, on a number of ‘layers’ if you will. You will understand what I mean when you read more of my blogs. In summary, many things go on at one time in the ‘real’ world, albeit one that we do not pay close enough attention to.
Once you understand the basics of high-level negotiation you will find that you have opened your eyes and may feel you have been blind this whole time. You have. The good news is that everyonearound you has been blind aswell. Some people may have glimmers of sight. You will navigate this world with your eyes wide open. Today, you have no idea how much you will learn and what a difference it will make to your life. As you learn more, you will ‘see’ things in situations and people that did not register with you before. When you get really good at it, you will be able to ‘smell’ someone out in seconds. People who are bad will not like you instantly. The reason? They put on a façade for the world, and it works. You saw through it. You know what? Do you really need their approval? No more than you need to cut yourself shaving.
There is no easy way for me to take you from blindness to vision. This will take some time. However, I will provide you easy ways to learn a lot very rapidly. Whether you are in a personal or business relationship, the skills I will teach you will transform how you understand what happens to you; your life will become richer. For two reasons. First, for the relationships ‘worth’ keeping (ie you may not know yet which ones are ‘not’ worth keeping yet) you will make them richer and lasting. Second, ‘maybe’ for the first time in your life, you will know which relationships to ditch, and more importantly, why. Not every relationship is worth saving. It is true, you will never remove the stripes from a zebra. A skin sheds its skin, but that is because it wore one out from excessive use…some people you simply need to get as far away from as possible. This is what high-level negotiations are all about…knowing everything about your rival.
On a last note, I will try to write as many blogs as time allows. We are looking into audio blogs and video blogs as well. With COVID-19, things are a bit more challenging and time is at a premium. Also, in order for me to devote time to this blog, I need readers. I don’t have the time to deal with all of the advertising options, so if you like what you read and know of people who can benefit from this information, please forward our site and/or blog. You may also be wondering about the video program we are selling on the site. My work on the blog is separate from the sales. The program is an excellent learning experience I feel every person on the planet can benefit from. However, my blogs will not be trying to sell you something. As I train lawyers nationwide on high-level negotiations, I know that lawyers will be reading this blog as well. I will write it at a level all can understand. It will be raw, straight, honest, and to the point. I hope you enjoy this journey with me. Read the next blog for your first assignment. Please get involved. Register, make comments, ask questions. What you ask helps the whole community. I love to share what I know but if my students ask don’t get involved, I get bored….don’t let that happen :).
All the best
Stefano Riznyk
